IPA expands Diversity and Inclusion Essentials Certificate content

The IPA has announced new additions to its highly popular Diversity and Inclusion Essentials Certificate to help its agency practitioners better understand, celebrate and build the diversity of our industry.

Changes to the Certificate include: new content in the LGBTQI+ module in line with research launched around Pride; more content on allyship in the Racial and Ethnic Diversity module; and, in response to feedback from agencies, a new Gender Expression & Identity module w/c 25 October and a Social Mobility Module in January 2022.

The course was launched in January 2021, in partnership with the Hobbs Consultancy, in response to the rallying cry from the industry to become a fairer place for all to work. Since then, over 800 practitioners have taken the course, with modules comprising:

  • Racial and ethnic diversity in the workplace
  • LGBTQI+ in the workplace
  • Female leadership careers and leadership
  • Masculinity in the workplace
  • Disability in the workplace
  • Neurodiversity in the workplace
  • The multi-generational workplace
  • Gender Expression & Identity module (w/c 25th October)
  • Social Mobility Module (January 2022)

This course is an essential part of equipping ourselves to being more honest with ourselves and ensuring we are able to fully act on making our industry and lives more open to all.

Annie Gallimore, MD, Acne London and IPA Talent Leadership Group Chair

Says Katie Jackson, COO, TBWA London, “Continuous learning; it’s one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and our people. It’s also how to create meaningful and lasting change. After taking the IPA D&I course in January 2021, I was so blown away by the quality and depth of content, so much so that as a leadership team we decided to fund it for anyone at TBWA\London who was interested. As a result, we’ve discussed and shared learnings internally, with clients and with friends. With the addition of the Gender Expression & Identity and Social Mobility Modules, those conversations will only become richer.”

The course is £60 to members and £120 to non-members. The new and updated modules can be accessed free of charge by everyone who has already completed the course.
