The New Great Kindness Challenge – Family Edition Gives Children And Their Families A Fun And Easy Way To Show That Kindness Matters

Global nonprofit Kids for Peace today announced the new Great Kindness Challenge – Family Edition to give children and their families a free and fun opportunity to help create a kinder world together.  Guided by a checklist of 50 kind acts, families are challenged to unite in kindness through activities such as baking cookies for firefighters, playing board games with senior citizens, and raising funds for a favorite cause. This exciting addition to the Great Kindness Challenge was made possible through new philanthropic support from global play and entertainment company Hasbro, Inc.  and its BE FEARLESS BE KIND initiative.

Kids for Peace launched the new Family Edition with the Kindness Matters Bus Tour, a coast-to-coast event that kicked off in New York City at Times Square and will wrap up with a celebration in Carlsbad, California, where the organization is based.  The Kids for Peace crew will stop in multiple cities along the way to conduct all 50 kind acts on the Family Edition checklist. Families across the United States are invited to follow the bus online and join the fun by downloading the free checklist on

The Papazian family, who helped to kick off the Kindness Matters Bus Tour in New York, has already seen the positive effects of taking the challenge. Eight-year-old Jasmine Papazian sums it up best, “Doing kind things with my family makes my heart full. It doesn’t cost anything. It just gives.”

The Great Kindness Challenge is a fun and easy way to express empathy, altruism, and compassion.  One way it inspires families to serve others is the checklist item “Raise funds and donate to your favorite cause.” The Great Kindness Challenge Kind Coins campaign is Kids for Peace’s annual fundraising event to help communities in need. This year’s Kind Coins for Hurricane Relief campaign has a goal of building four new playgrounds at schools in hurricane-impacted communities in Texas, Puerto Rico, Florida and Louisiana.  To help double the impact made by these fundraising efforts and help Kids for Peace achieve its goal, Hasbro is matching every dollar raised for the Kind Coins for Hurricane Relief campaign through February 15, 2018, up to $100,000

Hasbro is the presenting sponsor of the Great Kindness Challenge – Family Edition and also a co-sponsor of this year’s School Edition alongside Dignity Health. This new relationship is part of Hasbro’s BE FEARLESS BE KIND signature philanthropic initiative, which is designed to empower kids to have the compassion and courage to stand up for others, to be inclusive and to make a difference in the world.

“As a company dedicated to making the world a better place for children and their families, Hasbro is excited to help Kids for Peace expand upon its extremely successful Great Kindness Challenge program to give families a fun framework to be kind in their lives,” said Karen Davis, Hasbro’s senior vice president of Global Philanthropy and Social Impact, and president of the Hasbro Children’s Fund. “Through BE FEARLESS BE KIND, we are helping organizations like Kids for Peace elevate the discussion about empathy and kindness, both in the classroom and at home.”

All families are welcome to jump on the road to kindness by visiting to download the free kindness checklist, interactive apps, and also to learn more about the Kind Coins for Hurricane Relief campaign. They can follow the Kindness Matters Bus as they complete 50 kind acts from coast-to-coast on social media under the hashtags #KindnessMattersBus, #GKCfamily, and #BeFearlessBeKind.
