CIPR welcomes ICO investigation into use of facial recognition technology

The CIPR’s #AIinPR Panel has welcomed the ICO’s announcement that it plans to investigate the use of live facial recognition technology in King’s Cross, London. The statement comes a day after the CIPR’s Artificial Intelligence Panel called on businesses to be transparent about the use of emerging technology. UNESCO welcomes the establishment of a Global Media Defense Fund, with initial funding by UK and Canada

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has warmly welcomed the establishment of a new Global Media Defense Fund at the initiative of the United Kingdom and Canada and their respective pledges of £3 million (US$3,8 M) over five years and of 1 million Canadian Dollars (US$ 765,000) to the Fund.
