Morrisons Makes Salad Bars Greener by Introducing ‘Rentable Boxes’

Morrisons is introducing new ‘rentable’ boxes on its Salad Bar in four trial stores to allow customers to lunch more sustainably. It has also removed plastic cutlery from all stores. The Refill a Box scheme is the first of its kind to be trialled by a UK supermarket. Each ‘rentable’ box will replace Morrisons large salad box and is made from fully recyclable polypropylene. Morrisons introduces plastic free toilet rolls and kitchen rolls in paper packaging

Morrisons is launching paper-wrapped toilet and kitchen rolls to limit plastic waste and increase the use of recyclable packaging in customers’ homes. Toilet and kitchen rolls are two of the most commonly bought household products in the UK, with 98% and 82% of customers respectively, putting them in their baskets every week. The plastic film used to wrap these products has historically been difficult to recycle. Morrisons Works with Food and Drink Suppliers to Reduce Greenhouse Gases

Morrisons is working with its own-brand suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as part of its commitment to lower the amount of carbon emitted in its wider supply chain. Own-brand suppliers will be encouraged to reduce the greenhouse emissions associated with the sourcing, manufacture and transportation of their products.
