Veganuary: Sodexo reports a steady increase in uptake of vegan and vegetarian meals

Marking Veganuary 2022, Sodexo has released food sales data showing the month-on-month increase in purchases of both vegan and vegetarian meals across its UK foodservice outlets at corporate client sites. Plant-based wraps and sandwiches the big winners during Veganuary 2020

Brits created all time record demand for plant-based wraps and sandwiches during Veganuary last month, Tesco can reveal. During the month long event – which sees people pledging to eat only vegan food – demand for plant-based wraps and sandwiches at the supermarket soared by nearly 75 per cent against the previous Veganuary. Veganuary 2020 saved CO2eq of 450,000 flights and more than one million animals

Veganuary, a global organisation encouraging people to try vegan in January and beyond, has today released new statistics compiled by environmental researcher Joseph Poore* which show that if 350,000 people worldwide go vegan for January 2020 – as the charity is expecting – it will save: 41,200 tonnes of CO2eq from the atmosphere, the same as 450,000 flights from London to Berlin160 tonnes of PO43-eq (eutrophication) from waterways, the same impact as preventing 650 tonnes of sewage from entering our waterways 2.5 million litres of water, which is enough water…
