UNESCO highlights fragility of press freedom in the face of COVID-19 in 2020

UNESCO has condemned the killing of 59 media workers in 2020, among them four women. With 22 killings each, the Latin America and the Caribbean Region and the Asia and the Pacific Region registered the highest number of fatalities in the profession, followed by the Arab States Region with nine, and Africa with six. New research shows significant dependency on charities revealed since the start of the pandemic

Research recently released reveals almost one in eight (14%) UK adults have received support from a charity since the COVID-19 crisis began in March 2020. And, more than half (55%) of those that have received support, which equates to 3.9 million UK adults, never expected to need it before the COVID-19 crisis happened. Deutsche Bank honoured for its commitment in the fight against LGBTQ persecution

US LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrant rights organisation “Immigration Equality” has awarded its first Safe Haven Corporate Award to Deutsche Bank, recognising the bank’s pro bono legal assistance in the fight for asylum for LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants facing persecution and brutality in their home countries. Since 2018, the bank has represented seven individuals free of charge. Of those, four have been granted asylum and three cases are still pending. CIM steps up learning and development support for members

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has announced that from the 25th November, new and renewing graded CIM members will be given a month’s access to online courses worth £249.
