Airbus brings digital technology to firefighting

Airbus has just successfully completed a unique first-of-its-kind trial in forest firefighting. By linking aircraft, helicopters, drones and ground personnel via communication and data processing systems, Airbus has demonstrated the ability to carry out highly accurate water drops and significantly reduce the time between fire detection and extinguishment.  The trial mobilised significant resources, including the Airbus H130 FlightLab helicopter, two aircraft, an ATR 72 test aircraft and a Cirrus SR20 light aircraft, four drones including an Airbus Aliaca, and three lorries from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Le…

Dover becomes UK’s first net-zero port 25 years ahead of the UK Government’s maritime target.

The Port of Dover has announced it has achieved its ambitious goal of carbon net zero emissions (Scope 1 and 2) for 2025, at least five years ahead of any other UK port target, and 25 years ahead of the UK Government’s maritime target.   Its emissions for Scope 1 and 2 have fallen by a huge 98.3% from 2007, with residual emissions being offset through a local regenerative farming scheme issued under the UK Carbon Code of Conduct. New carbon accounting qualification will bolster trust in net-zero

The first cohort of professionals to gain a new qualification in carbon accounting are now urging others within the profession to do the same, via training course which aims to improve the accuracy and credibility of corporate emissions reporting, accredited by the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP).
