CIPR announces five successful Research Fund applications

The CIPR has announced five new commissioned research projects under its 2023 Research Fund.

Now in its third successive year, the CIPR Research Fund encouraged recent applications from members keen to support the CIPR’s 75th anniversary themes of demonstrating the value of PR to society and on the future of the profession.

The commissioned research projects are:

  • Gen Z Media Habits in 2023. By Rebecca Roberts.
  • How can consistent accessibility and inclusion practice become part of public sector operational culture? By Leanne Hughes and Kim Tooke.
  • What is the experience of those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds working in PR, why it matters and what can we do to address it? By Caitlin Plunkett-Reilly.
  • From Muckraking to Metaverse: 100 years of Public Relations education – learnings for India. By Noumaan Qureshi.
  • Communicating evidence to policy makers – what works? By Caroline Wood.

Successful applicants have been awarded grants of up to £2000 to conduct this critical research that advances the knowledge and understanding of PR and communication management. New for 2023, successful applicants will also have the opportunity to undertake a CIPR training course to help refresh or develop their research knowledge and skills.

“Congratulations to all those that have been successful in receiving grants for your research. The Research Fund was set up to encourage a wide range of topics related to our profession and I am thrilled to see the breadth of subjects this year’s grants will support and excited to see the results they deliver.

Research and data should underpin the work PR professionals deliver and it is our hope that these important research projects help us to inform and advise our role in representing the profession.”
Mandy Pearse Chart PR, FCIPR, Chair of the CIPR’s Research Panel

The successful projects will be launched in January 2024.
