Techfugees, a global non-profit which advocates the use of responsible tech innovations to empower digital inclusion of refugees, has appointed Milk & Honey PR to accelerate its mission to amplify digital inclusion of refugees and displaced people and their positive contribution to digital society.
The recent events in Afghanistan and the Haiti earthquake have brought home the severity of the plight faced by refugees. Natural disasters caused by the effects of climate change are predicted to drastically increase the numbers of refugees and displaced people over the next decade if little or no action is taken.
Currently, 1% of humanity (82.4 million people) are displaced, and most observers say that figure is projected to rise with 1.2billion people expected to become climate migrants by 2050.
The collaboration signed on World Humanitarian Day, amidst the growing displacement crisis, reinforces The Human Race to globally act to stand in solidarity with vulnerable displaced communities for their rights and cements Milk & Honey’s commitment to people, purpose, planet.
Following the appointment of Techfugees’ CEO Raj Burman in November 2020, the agency’s remit is to raise awareness of the vital work the non-profit does in bringing together the digital tech sector, volunteering and partner community as a global digital collective to amplify the rights of marginalised displaced persons.
With a mission to leave no one behind in the increasingly digital and climate change stricken world, the collaboration will support global private-public sector efforts for digital inclusion of refugees. Additionally, advocating guiding principles with digital tech partnerships with companies such as BuffaloGrid. This will accelerate innovative, responsible digital solutions, developed by refugees to break down barriers for digital inclusion and integration in society.
Techfugees CEO, Raj Burman, added: “Techfugees and Milk & Honey PR share a mutual passion to unlock the hidden value of brands to do good business and make the world a better place.
“This purpose was clear throughout all our conversations that deeply resonated with Techfugees #DRENCH values of Dignity, Respect, Empathy, Neutrality, Commitment and Humility. We also drive global teaming and solidarity with the community to advocate the human rights of refugees and displaced communities.
“Given the complexity of conversations surrounding displaced people, we sought for an extraordinary agency. A best of breed, with potential to go over and above the norm to collaborate with us in accelerating shared goals. The Milk & Honey team couldn’t be a better fit with their strong passion and B-Corp values.”
Milk & Honey Senior Consultant, Alexandra Annable said: “Each of our pro-bono clients are chosen to support our mission of people, purpose and planet. We couldn’t think of a more worthwhile cause to support at this moment in time. The work Techfugees is doing to support the current refugee crisis is vitally important to humanity and it aligns perfectly with our values.
