Waitrose and Aldi have become the first UK supermarkets to commit to ending the sale of disposable barbecues, with Waitrose already removing them across all 331 of its core stores. The move comes as increasing pressure mounts from leading charities and environmental organisations for supermarkets to remove disposable barbecues due to their potentially hazardous impact to the environment. Aldi Launches Deposit Return Scheme Trial In Scotland

Aldi is trialling its first deposit return scheme at its Bathgate store in West Lothian, Scotland, allowing customers to return bottles and cans in exchange for a voucher to be redeemed against their shopping. Aldi has launched a trial selling its first packaging-free products to help customers shop more sustainably. The trial is available at one store in Ulverston, Cumbria, but if successful, Aldi will look to develop its refillable options in other stores in the future.
