Supermarket Asda is to trial an innovative new technology by Apeel Sciences that could drastically reduce food waste and potentially reduce the use of plastic packaging in future. The equivalent of 90,000 waste plastic water bottles help resurface Asda Wakefield’s car park

Asda’s Wakefield store is being given an environmentally-friendly make-over as part of some ongoing work in the car park. The equivalent of 90,000 waste plastic water bottles made from non-recyclable plastic and would otherwise have gone to landfill or been incinerated, have gone into making the asphalt to resurface the Wakefield store’s car park.
